NAVER
NAVER Corporation is a South Korean internet company. It traces its start to June 1999, when NAVER.com was incorporated and launched the NAVER search portal,1 and it lists its core businesses as search, AI, online advertising, commerce, content, cloud and fintech; it reported 10.7 trillion won in revenue and 4,535 employees, excluding affiliates, for 2024.2 NAVER says it launched HyperCLOVA, Korea’s first hyperscale AI, in 2021, and completed 1784, which it calls the world’s first robot-friendly headquarters, in 2022.2 Its robotics work sits in NAVER LABS, established in January 2017 as an R&D-focused company,1 which works on robotics, autonomous driving, digital twins, AI and AR.3
1784, NAVER’s second headquarters building, stands beside its Green Factory building in the Bundang district of Seongnam. It rises 28 stories above eight basement levels, has 165,000 square meters of floor space and room for more than 5,000 employees, and is named after its address and the year the Industrial Revolution began.4 NAVER moved in during April 2022.1 NAVER LABS says more than 100 robots there, all controlled through one cloud system called ARC, have delivered Starbucks coffee, lunch boxes, convenience-store orders and packages since 2022, ordered from a single app; one robot model, Rookie, switches between those jobs, and ROBOPORT, a robot-only elevator, runs ten carriers on 128-meter vertical rails so robots don’t queue for the passenger cars.5 NAVER calls ROBOPORT the world’s first robot-only elevator, and employees use CLOVA FaceSign, a face-recognition device, as their staff ID.6
For a concierge or mailroom worker, the robots take over the walk: a Rookie carries a package through gates that open as it approaches and hands it over, and the recipient gets a notice in the company app.4 NAVER now puts the fleet at approximately 100 cloud-controlled robots.7 MetaRoles grades this as robots doing the delivery task in production in how a building concierge’s job is shared with robots and AI and cites it in AI and robot receptionists; NAVER builds the robots and runs the building, so the case rests on its own accounts. In July 2026 NAVER said it had deployed ARC at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, its first installation in a commercial building outside NAVER, using the building’s existing freight elevators and automatic doors, with services centered on delivery.8
